What is a "segment," and why not just one big pile?
A segment is a labeled slice inside the event, the ceremony, the reception, the rehearsal dinner, a second wedding day. Without segments, a 3,000-photo event is one undifferentiated scroll. With segments, "find the toast photos" means opening the reception segment instead of hunting through everything. Segments don't duplicate photos or move them anywhere, they're an organizing label layered on top of the event you already connected.
How do segments help with tagging and albums?
Face tagging and album building both work faster inside a segment than across a whole event. Tagging the bridal party in the ceremony segment is a smaller, faster job than tagging them across three days of photos at once. Do I have to plan segments before I connect my photos?
No. Segments are something you add once your photos are connected, not a setup step that blocks you from starting. Most people connect the whole event first, then create segments as the shape of the day becomes clear, one for the morning, one for the ceremony, one for the reception. You can add a segment at any point and move photos into it without starting over.
Does splitting into segments change where my photos live?
No. Segments are an organizing layer inside Confetti, not a change to your Drive.
