In short: connect every folder from the weekend as one event, then create a segment for each distinct part, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, day-after brunch, and move photos into each one. Nothing leaves your Drive, and you can adjust segments at any point.
What's the situation?
A wedding weekend rarely lives in one folder. The photographer delivers the ceremony and reception separately, your phone has the rehearsal dinner, your cousin's phone has the Sunday brunch. Treated as one giant pile, that's a scroll nobody wants to sort through. Treated as segments inside one event, each part of the weekend gets its own labeled home, still connected, still read-only, just organized.
What do you need before you start?
- Every relevant folder shared or accessible in your own Google Drive (yours, your photographer's delivery, folders from family who dropped in phone photos).
- A rough sense of how the weekend actually broke into parts. You don't need a final list, just a starting shape (rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, day two).
Steps
1. Connect your event. Add the Drive folder or folders for the weekend as a single event in Confetti. Multiple folders can belong to one event, you don't have to consolidate everything into one Drive folder first. 2. Create your first segment. Inside the event, add a segment and name it for the part of the weekend it covers, "Rehearsal Dinner," "Ceremony," "Reception." 3. Move photos into the segment. Use the "+" next to the segment label to add photos to it. You can do this by folder, by date, or by hand-picking a batch. 4. Repeat for each part of the weekend. Add a segment for each distinct piece, the getting-ready shots, the ceremony, the reception, a second-day brunch or after-party. 5. Tag and build within a segment. Once photos are in a segment, tag faces and build albums scoped to just that segment, faster than working across the whole weekend at once.
What Confetti does not do at each step
Connecting a folder does not give Confetti write access, the scope is read-only, so nothing in your Drive gets created, moved, or deleted. Creating a segment does not move photos into a new Drive folder, it's a label inside Confetti, your originals stay exactly where they were. Adding photos to a segment doesn't remove them from the overall event, a photo can live in the whole-event view and a segment view at the same time.
